About this blog

“Sarah Loves Fabric” is a mission statement.  It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy.  It’s a lifelong truth.  And it’s getting to be a little bit out of hand, to be honest.

I’ve been sewing as long as I can remember.  Thanks to my mother’s example and encouragement, I’ve made things with my hands my entire life.  I made toys, bags, quilts, my prom dresses, my bridal gown, and many many costumes.  But it’s always been primarily about the fabric, and quilting is to me the purest expression of that.

Fabric is a promise — a dream — unlimited potential.  A fat quarter is like a stem cell — it could become anything!  Buying new fabric feels like buying the time to use it.

And there’s the rub.  Some of that dreaming leads to self-delusion.  I wish to live more simply, and the fabric stash is getting to be unmanageable.  So I’m trying to love fabric more responsibly, and to show my love for fabric by turning it into more FINISHED, USABLE objects.

It should be fun!  After all, it comes from love.
